Conductor Bio - Dr. Dirk Hillyer
Dr. Dirk Hillyer is a renowned local, national, and international conductor, musician, horn player, and mentor known for his energetic and engaging style.
He has conducted the Hillyer Festival Orchestra at hundreds of performances throughout New England and performed around the world, including London, Tel Aviv, Lisbon, Florence, and Dublin. His credits include national tours of Disney’s Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies and the Wolf Trap Festival with the National Symphony Pops.
Locally, the Hillyer Festival Orchestra performs at Salem’s annual Fourth of July celebration and on Boston’s Esplanade summer concert series. Hillyer holds a PhD from Tufts University and two degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music, and served as a music professor at Salem State University for more than 40 years.
