The Grinch is the story of a lonely creature who tries to cancel Christmas by stealing gifts and decorations from the homes of the nearby town of Whoville on Christmas Eve. This ballet is full of laughter, romance, and an important lesson about the true meaning of the holiday season!
This performance is a unique interactive experience for audience members of all ages and a learning opportunity that transforms our ballet stage into a vibrant classroom!
The Grinch is set to classical and contemporary holiday music and includes narration, helping patrons understand the story and appreciate the artistry of the professional dancers.

Safe Haven Ballet is a professional ballet company, pre-professional school and (501)(c)(3) non-profit that exists to offer free trauma-sensitive ballet, movement and art classes to survivors of sexual/domestic violence and trauma, as well as create uplifting and inspiring ballet performances.
LISSA CURTIS | EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Lissa is the director of Safe Haven Ballet and has been dancing professionally since high school with training across New England, including programs at Boston Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and Burklyn Ballet Theatre. She is a wife, mother, black belt, online health and wellness business owner, and sought-after guest speaker to advocate against sexual violence with her personal story and message of “Be BRAVE and speak your truth.” She holds a comprehensive certification in classical Pilates from Peak Pilates. She has a double major B.S. in Kinesiology: Exercise Science and B.A. in Theatre and Dance from the University of New Hampshire. Lissa was a principal dancer with Northeastern Ballet Theatre for over a decade, performing coveted principal roles such as Lucy in Dracula, Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Laurencia in The Pirate and the Gypsy, and the Evil Queen in Snow White. She also performed main/title roles in Sleeping Beauty, The Snow Queen, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and The Nutcracker. She is also an accomplished choreographer and has choreographed more than ten full-length musicals and now full-length productions and repertoire for Safe Haven Ballet since 2019.
